Eastern portions of Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area are closed to vehicle access during a campground improvement project.

The project will add electrical campsites and a shower house to the park’s eastern campground, which previously offered basic, non-electric camping only.

The Wildcat Hills Nature Center, Shooting Complex and west campground remain open, and visitors may explore the park via its trail system. The park offers nearly 6 miles of trails, in addition to extensive wildlife viewing opportunities.

The improvement project is being funded with Capital Maintenance Funds and Nebraska Game and Parks funds generated through state park user fees. The Capital Maintenance Fund was established by the Nebraska Legislature to help preserve Nebraska's public outdoor recreation facilities and parklands, along with state and federal funding sources.
