Larry Lynes, 81, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022 at Crest View Care Center in Chadron.
He was born May 27, 1941 in Oshkosh, NE to Ezra and Lillian (Sindelar) Lynes and was named Robert Larry Lines.
On December 22, 1962 he was united in marriage to Tamara J. Hodges in Julesburg, Colorado.
Larry managed the lumber yard in Chappell, NE for many years before moving to Alliance in 1994 when he became the assistant manager at Century Lumber. In 2007 he and his son, Vaughn, opened a gun shop called V&L Sports which they operated until 2014. He continued working after that distributing the Scottsbluff Star-Herald. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his children, Connie (Tony) Drew and Vaughn Lynes of Alliance and Cindy Johnson of Amarillo, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kiersten Johnson of Houston, TX and Noah Drew of Alliance. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 17, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Gideon Achi officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorials may be given to Crest View Care Center in Chadron or the Alliance United Methodist Church.
