July 13, 2026 (Gering, Neb.)&nbsp;— Weather permitting, work will begin July 15 on&nbsp;Cowboy Trail, from .85 miles west of Davenport Road to Nebraska Highway 87 (N-87), according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.&nbsp;

Simon Contractors, Inc., of Cheyenne, Wyo., is the contractor for the project. Work includes crushed rock surfacing and bridge repair. Equipment will be entering and exiting at locations along U.S. Highway 20 (US-20) and county roads that intersect the trail. Anticipated completion is March 2027.

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and put phones down.
