Luis “Rico” Oliveros, 71, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away October 4, 2023. He was born January 1, 1952, to Luis and Anita Oliveros.
He is survived by wife, Lori; children, Melissa (Ryan) Morrow, Jacqueline (Andrew) Lloyd, and Louis (Kaitlyn) Oliveros; grandchildren, Tyson, Kennedy, Winslet, and Nirvana; mom, Anita Oliveros; siblings, Cecelia “CeCe” (Doug) Miller; Edward “Eddie” Oliveros; Alex Oliveros; John “Henry” (Deb) Oliveros; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceded in death by his brother and father, Luis; beloved animals, Peaches, Mickey, and DanMarino.
Rico embraced life with zeal and a zest for adventure. His multifaceted interests and unwavering commitment to his loved ones defined him in many ways.
A dedicated cyclist, Rico could often be found pedaling down the streets, combining his love for cycling with the thrill of the open road. Rico was a die-hard fan of the Huskers, Raiders, and Celtics. He never missed a game, even when a heartbreaking loss was inevitable.
Rico was a devout member of the Catholic Church and found solace and strength in his faith.
He was a dedicated father and took an active part in his children’s lives. He coached their basketball teams with a heart full of pride and made everlasting memories. Rico’s love for the game extended beyond his family as he generously shared his coaching expertise with the girls’ basketball team at St. Agnes High School in Alliance, NE.
For 32 years, Rico dedicated himself to a career at BNSF Railroad, showing unwavering commitment throughout his service.
His love for classic automobiles, especially his 1929 Ford Model A hot rod, was evident in every detail. Rico had an adventurous spirit and never wanted to miss out on any opportunity to create lasting memories.
Known for his ornery sense of humor and quick wit, Rico could light up a room with his presence. His favorite saunas infused with eucalyptus provided moments of relaxation and reflection.
Rico will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life lived to the fullest.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 13, 2023, from 5 – 8 PM at Wyuka Funeral Home, Lincoln.
