Alliance, NE – Curious about the increasingly popular game of mahjong but unsure where to begin? The Alliance Public Library can help. The first in a series of mahjong classes will be held Saturday, October 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Community Room.

We will cover identifying tiles, NMJL rules of the game and spend some time on developing hands with strategies. Mahjong is a four-person player game where players combine a series of 13 tiles through a process of drawing and discarding to complete a pattern for a winning hand- mahjong.

To register, call the Library at 308-762-1387 or email shamilton@cityofalliance.net. Additional class dates and times will be announced as they become available. Follow the Alliance Public Library Facebook page for updates on future mahjong classes. We’ll help you get started so you can play with confidence. For more information, contact Steph Hamilton at the Library.
