On 4/3/25 at approximately 7:00 pm, Scottsbluff Police observed Montell Red Bear, 29 of Gering, NE., driving a white 2003 Cadillac in the area of 17th Ave and E 20th ST. It was confirmed that Montell had a suspended NE driver’s license and a traffic stop was initiated near Broadway and 20th ST.
The vehicle fled the attempted traffic stop and a pursuit ensued. A female passenger was observed exiting the vehicle at the intersection of 22nd ST and Ave B. After the female exited the passenger side of the vehicle the white Cadillac accelerated west bound on 22nd ST. The pursuit was terminated near the intersection of Ave G and W 20th ST as speeds in excess of 50 mph within residential area were being reached.
The female was later interviewed and reported that as Montell was fleeing police she made several pleas to be allowed to exit the vehicle, but was not allowed.
At approximately 9:17 pm, SPD again observed the white Cadillac as it had failed to yield to approaching traffic as it exited south bound from the alley between Ave B and Ave C in the 2000 block. Again, a traffic stop was initiated. The white Cadillac again fled the attempted traffic stop west bound on 20th ST. The traffic stop was again terminated near the intersection of Ave G and W 19th ST after several observed traffic violations with speeds exceeding 50 mph in residential areas were reached.
At approximately 11:08 pm the vehicle was observed on South ST in Terrytown traveling with no lights on. At this time SPD utilized Stop Sticks to disable the vehicle as it traveled west bound on South ST at a slow speed of approximately 8 mph. After deployment of Stop Sticks, the white Cadillac again accelerated to evade law enforcement.
Assisting units in the area attempted to stop the vehicle, but it proceeded west on Stable Club Road and then north on Ave I at speeds ranging from 10 mph to 45 mph on three flat tires.
The vehicle became disabled near 560 W 40th ST at which time Montell was arrested for charges of Flight to Avoid x3, Driving Under Suspension x3, Willfull Wreckless Driving x3, Kidnapping, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. There were no injuries or outside property damage during the pursuits. Scottsbluff PD was assisted by Gering PD, Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Department, and Nebraska State Patrol.
