Alliance was well represented at the United Way of Western Nebraska Kickoff event on Wednesday in Scottsbluff, where United Way of Nebraska announced that their goal is to raise $400,000 this year. Executive Director Karen Benzel explains what else was done at the event.

"We announced our Pacesetter Business of the Year award, our Partner Agency of the Year award, and we also honored our last campaign co-chair as well as announce brand new campaign co-chairs," Benzel said.

Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance earned the Pacesetter of the Year award, and Box Butte Health Foundation Director Chelsea Thompson   accepted the award.  Benzel explains why BBGH was deserving of the honor.

"They increased they're internal campaign by 70% which is huge, and a 30% participation rate," Benzel said. While the financial aspect is a part of the award, Benzel says BBGH is also a strong supporter of programs like Imaginary Library, community impact works and more.

Benzel also talked about the Duck Draw and that time is running out to get your ducks.   The drawing is to be held Sept. 16 and someone will win a 2023 Chevrolet Trax, donated by TEAM Auto Center. Ducks are available at ALLO in Alliance, The United Way office in Alliance, Apricot Lane in Chadron, and also available online at https://www.uwwn.org/duck.
