Halsey, Neb. — The Nebraska National Forest at Bessey Ranger District in Halsey, Nebraska, will temporarily close a portion of U.S. Forest Service Road 203.

The intermittent closure will extend from the intersection with Nebraska State Highway 86B to just north of the intersection of Forest Service Road 203 and Forest Service Road 224. Access to the Whitetail Campground will remain available via Circle Road from the west.

Closures on U.S. Forest Service Road 203 will occur Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. CT.

The maintenance work is intended to harden the road surface and improve access for visitors and is expected to continue potentially into August 2026.

All campgrounds and OHV trails remain open, and U.S. Forest Service Road 203 will be open outside of the days and hours that maintenance is underway.
