CRAWFORD, Neb. — After weeks of clues, community excitement and countless hours of searching, the Golden Seed has officially been found, bringing the inaugural Seek the Seed Treasure Hunt to a successful close.
Sponsored by Heritage Seed & Feed in Crawford, the contest challenged participants to follow weekly clues released on Double Q Country and Panhandle Post in search of a hidden Golden Seed worth $500.
The treasure hunt encouraged families, friends and community members to explore Crawford while solving clues that gradually narrowed the search to the winning location.

Jason of Heritage Seed & Feed said he is overwhelmed by the response the contest received and grateful to everyone who took part.
"We want to thank everyone who participated in this year's Seek the Seed Treasure Hunt," Jason said. "It was incredible to see so many people having fun, working together and enjoying our community. We appreciate everyone who followed along each week, and we're already looking forward to doing it again next summer."
Following the success of this year's event, Heritage Seed & Feed has announced plans to bring the contest back next summer with another hidden Golden Seed and another $500 grand prize.
Contest organizers encourage participants to keep an eye on Panhandle Post and Double Q Country next summer for details on the return of the treasure hunt and the first clue of the 2027 contest.
Until then, Jason has one final message for treasure hunters:"Thanks for playing... and get ready. Next summer, the hunt begins again."
