Rodney Byard Tiensvold was born on September 6, 1936 and entered into eternal life on September 25, 2023. Rodney was born to Ella Mae and Odin Tiensvold in Rushville, Nebraska. Being the 5th of 6 children, he quickly learned how to work on the homestead.
On July 23, 1956, Rodney married the love of his live, Shirley Mae Throne. They welcomed their first child together, Gary Auther, in 1957. In 1961, the welcomed their daughter, Pammy Jean. Together as a family, they enjoyed traveling and camping.
Rodney entered into the U.S. Army in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1956. Rodney was a livelong member of the Elk's Lodge. Here, he made lifelong friends who enjoyed playing cards together. Rodney provided a beautiful life as a professional truck driver who hauled cattle, beer, and liquid feed. Rodney retired from Midwest PMS in 2005 after dedicating 42 years to the company.
His love for his wife, children, 8 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren was unconditional. Rodney had the best sense of humor and always made people laugh.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy Moser; his brothers, Clarence, Richard, and Orville; his granddaughter, Wendy Ann Riensvold; and great granddaughter, Reaghan Elizabeth Graham.
Rodney is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Mar; his sister, Diane Dohrman; his son, Gary (Deb) Tiensvold; and daughter, Pam (Tyler) Schiel; his grandchildren Tim (Emily) Tiensvold, Dennis Tiensvold, Kristen (Tom) Zeller, Bridget Tiensvold, Brandon (Danielle) Schiel, Brett (Jennifer) Schiel, and Brittney (Mitch) Weimer; his great grandchildren Karson Schiel, Vaugh, Creed and Tripp Weimer, Braylon and Deacon Schiel, Ryder Schiel, Margo, Neva, Holden and Henry "Hank" Tiensvold, Eli and Ezra Zeller, and Tiana, Gabriel and Adalyn Lind; and several nieces and nephews.
Although he is gone from our sight, he will forever be in our hearts.
Respects can be paid during his funeral at The Fort Morgan United Methodist Church on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. Mountain time. Graveside services will be held at the Fairview Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Mountain time in Rushville, Nebraska.
