CHADRON – Associate Professor of Mathematics Dr. Jung Colen completed the second portion of a Service, Teaching, and Research (STaR) Fellowship in Mathematics Education this summer with the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators’ (AMTE).
“I’m grateful to the Deans and the Deans Council for their generous support to actualize this professional development,” she said.
She was part of a cohort of 17 faculty members from institutions across the U.S. Due to the pandemic, the cohort participated virtually for three days in June 2021 and then convened in Park City, Utah, in conjunction with the AMTE’s Annual Meeting in June 2022.
Colen said she continues to collaborate and network with the other faculty members in her cohort.
The STaR Fellows Program addresses the common challenges relating to teaching mathematics content and methods courses for prospective and practicing K-12 teachers, establishing a research agenda, contributing to meaningful service, and developing leadership skills.
