By Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team

Firefighters continued to make steady progress across the South Fork Fire today. The fire is currently 39,057 acres and 74% contained.
Overall, fire activity remained minimal, with only isolated areas of activity observed throughout the incident. Many of the visible smoke columns seen today were again from interior pockets of unconsumed fuel continuing to burn well within the fire perimeter. These areas were especially visible from Highway 20 near Crawford, but remained within established containment lines and posed no threat to surrounding communities.
Crews continued mop-up, patrol, and suppression repair operations across the fire area, working to locate and extinguish remaining hotspots while strengthening containment lines. Firefighters will remain engaged throughout the evening and into tomorrow to secure the fire and prevent any potential flare-ups.
As a reminder, please continue to use caution when traveling near the fire area. Fire personnel and equipment remain active along roadways and within the incident area. Thank you for giving crews the space they need to safely complete their work.
