SCOTTSBLUFF, NEB. — On Wednesday, the Nebraska State Patrol and Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office will present Life Saver Awards to citizens credited with the saving the life of a Scotts Bluff County Deputy earlier this month.
The crash occurred on April 18, when Deputy Josh Ruzicka suffered a medical incident while driving on Highway 71 in his marked patrol vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed, causing the vehicle to catch fire.
There were multiple witnesses to the crash. Three individuals stopped to help the deputy. Together, they were able to extract Deputy Ruzicka from the vehicle and pull him to safety.
