City of Alliance welcomes new Police Chief Philip Lukens

The Alliance Police Department and City of Alliance welcomed in a new Police Chief on Monday, Dec. 21, who will fill the role of John Kiss. 

The new Alliance Police Chief is Philip Lukens. 

Chief Lukens has worked in multiple capacities going through the ranks to commander in law enforcement agencies since 1997.

According to a news release, "Chief Lukens has achieved multiple certifications to include being a graduate of Northwestern University Center for Public Safety School of Staff and Command, FBI LEEDA, International Chief’s of Police Leadership in Police Organizations, CAP, CERT, Crisis Intervention Teams, Crash Reconstruction Expert, and numerous community policing designations. Lukens comes from Louisville, Colorado Police. But also worked for Lafayette, Erie, and CU Boulder Police Departments in Colorado."

Lukens was born and grew up in Sterling, Colorado, before moving to the front range.

The news release said, his familiarity with the small city and agricultural community are what led him to Alliance.

“I am honored to join the team of the great men and women who dedicate their lives to the community of Alliance," said Lukens. "I will continue to build upon the strengths and success of Chief Kiss. I am committed to open communication and look forward to continuing a partnership with our community for years to come. Serving businesses and citizens is a delight.”
