Linda Ann Hartman, 73, passed away Friday, March 25 at St. Mary's Hospital, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN after a lengthy illness.
She was born on December 31, 1948 in Englewood, NJ to Fred and Cecelia (Holmes) Viola. Linda was raised and grew up in Tappan, NY and graduated from Tappan High School in 1966. In 1969 she graduated from Rockland Community College in Rockland NY .
She moved to Nebraska in 1970 and graduated from Hiram Scott College in Scottsbluff in 1971 with a degree in elementary education. At Hiram Scott College she met Leonard Hartman and they were married in 1971. He survives her at their home.
They moved to Alliance later that year where Leonard began teaching high school math.
Linda began teaching middle school math in 1980. She was very active in school including being the Middle School Student Council sponsor and running the school store. One of her favorite things to do was keep scorebook for the high school volleyball and basketball teams. She was very active in the Nebraska State Education Association holding several elected positions.
Her favorite activity outside of school was scrapbooking. She enjoyed making pages for the senior players and for her friends' children. She also enjoyed taking care of her many cats.
