CHADRON – Seven new faculty members have joined Chadron State College for the fall semester. Three of the new faculty earned their undergraduate degrees from CSC. In the School of Liberal Arts they are Dr. Adam Hoesing and Dr. Tiffany Wasserburger. In the School of Professional Studies and Applied Sciences they are Adrianna Calle, Jessica Heesacker, and Dr. Miranda Scoggan. And, in the School of Business, Mathematics, and Science they are Dr. Clint Evrard and Kinsley Mason.
School of Liberal Arts
Dr. Adam A. Hoesing is an Assistant Professor in Justice Studies. He graduated from CSC in 2009 from the Justice Studies department, with a B.A. in Legal Studies. In 2012, he graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law. During law school, he served on the Nebraska Law Review as an executive editor, and earned Order of the Coif.
After law school, Hoesing joined Simmons Olsen Law Firm in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. While there from 2012 to 2023, he practiced general civil law including real estate, probate, estate planning, bankruptcy, municipal law, litigation support and appellate practice, natural resources law, and commercial law. He became a partner of the business in 2016 and a corporate officer in 2020.
“It is great to be back; teaching in the same program I graduated from. I look forward to continuing the strong tradition and values of the program,” he said.
Hoesing will teach Introduction to Legal Studies (LS 231), Legal Research and Writing (LS 238), Constitutional Law (LS/CJ/PS 333), Litigation and Civil Procedure (LS 232), Family Law (LS 236), Legal Research and Writing II (LS 338), and Ethics and Professional Responsibility (LS 436).
Dr. Tiffany A. Wasserburger is an Associate Professor in Justice Studies. She grew up in Chadron and graduated from CSC. Before starting law school in 1997, she served as a Legislative Aide for one year at the Nebraska Unicameral.
“I'm excited to be back at CSC where my professional journey began,” she said.
After graduating with her Juris Doctorate from UNL’s College of Law, she worked with Legal Aid, the Scotts Bluff County Attorney’s Office, and was the Criminal Justice Program Director at Western Nebraska Community College from 2014 to 2023.
She will teach Introduction to Criminal Justice (CJ 231), Introduction to Law (CJ/LS/PS 337), Criminal Law (CJ 331), Real Estate Law (LS 434), Rules of Evidence (CJ/LS 433), Juvenile Delinquency (CJ/SOC 332), and Criminal Procedure (CJ/LS 334).
She has been a presenter at the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences National Conference and was named to the Top 10 Defenders by the Animal Legal Defense Fund during National Justice for Animals Week in 2009.
School of Professional Studies and Applied Sciences
Adrianna Calle is an Assistant Professor in Social Work who will teach Policy Analysis and Advocacy (SW 434), Services to Elderly and Differently Abled (SW 332), and Pre-Field and Orientation (SW 459).
Prior to coming to CSC, she worked as a mental health therapist.
“This is my first time teaching in higher education. I wanted to expand my horizons,” she said.
She graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2011, the Air Force Institute of Technology in 2013, and the University of Central Florida in 2019.
Calle is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
Jessica Heesacker is an Instructor in Education. She earned a bachelor’s in Education and Human Sciences, and Social Science and Coaching from UNL, a master’s in School Leadership from Concordia University, and is pursuing a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.
“Working at CSC will allow me to work alongside a team of individuals who are as passionate about teaching and education as I am. I am eager and excited to be a part of guiding and partnering with the next generation of teachers,” she said.
She will teach Introduction to Teaching (EDUC 131), Assessment Foundations (EDUC 329), and Secondary/MS Assessment (EDUC 418S).
Most recently, Heesacker was the principal and dean of students at Red Cloud Indian School in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. Previously, she was a teacher, director, and principal at the Denver School of Technology. Her additional work experience was as a teacher and administrator at the Austin Business and Entrepreneurship Academy in Chicago.
Dr. Miranda Scoggan is an Instructor in Education. Originally from northwestern Nebraska, Scoggan said she wanted to return to the area.
“My previous work experiences led me to pursue a Ph.D. in education. Those experiences also helped me realize that special education is my passion and higher education is where I can reach my full potential as an educator,” she said.
She earned a bachelor’s in Education and Special Education and a master’s in Learning and Technology from Western Governors University. She earned a doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Special Education from Northcentral University.
Scoggan will teach Introduction to the Exceptional Learner (SPED 230), Assessing Individuals with Mild to Moderate Disabilities (SPED 435/535), Special Education Practices and Strategies (SPED 444), and Assessment and Diagnosis of Young Children (SPED 640), and Characteristics of Learning Disabilities (SPED 555).
She taught Special Education and behavior in Chugwater, Wyoming, and was a District Case Manager in Wheatland, Wyoming. She is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success.
School of Business, Mathematics, and Science
Dr. Clint Evrard is an Instructor of Physics and Chemistry who values CSC’s campus environment and the benefits it offers students.
“I enjoy being able to know my students so I can make adjustments based on their needs. CSC is the perfect environment for that,” he said.
Evrard earned a bachelor’s in Physics from Indiana State University, and a master’s in Computational Chemistry/Materials Physics and a doctorate in Electronic Structure Theory/Computational Quantum Materials from the University of Louisville.
Evrard will teach College Chemistry I and lab (CHEM 131/131L) and College Physics I and lab (PHYS 151/151L).
He taught lectures and online classes for five years at the University of Louisville. Evrard has presented talks and posters at several professional conferences and published several research articles in professional journals including his dissertation.
Kinsley Mason is an Instructor in Natural Sciences who will teach Physical Science for Elementary and Middle Grades Teacher (GEOS 129), Astronomy (GEOS 138), Planetary Geology for Educators (GEOS 312), Ancient Monuments (FYI 169AU), College Chemistry I lab (CHEM 131L), College Chemistry II lab (CHEM 132L), Survey of Chemistry lab (CHEM 140L), and Organic Chemistry lab (CHEM 333L). She will also coordinate shows at the Lois Veath Planetarium.
Mason played softball at CSC and earned a bachelor’s in Molecular Biology and a master’s in Science Education. While a student, she earned a NASA Nebraska Fellowship and made several Nebraska Academy of Sciences presentations. She was a graduate assistant and adjunct faculty for the Natural Science department, as well as a softball coaching assistant.
