George W. Turechek III, 73, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022 peacefully at his home in Cody, Wyoming.
George was born to George W. Turechek, Jr and Helen (Landers) Turechek, March 30, 1949 in Chadron, NE. George graduated from Alliance High School and went onto Chadron State College where he graduated with a Business degree. While in college he met and married Sandra K. Brening and to this union 3 daughters were born, Michelle, Kelly, and Jenny. George lived the majority of his life in Alliance, NE. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for many years until retiring. George then purchased The Outpost convenience store. George was a friendly person and always had a smile, many of his customers referred to him as “Outpost George”. Later, George and Sandy divorced and a few years later The Outpost was sold. George fully retired in Cody, Wyoming be close to family and enjoy all the outdoor activities he always loved.
George is survived by his three daughters, Michelle (Harley) Salway, of Alliance, NE, Kelly Clark, of Alliance, NE, and Jenny Turechek of Lincoln, NE. He is also survived by 6 beautiful grandchildren, Adrianna Salway, of Alliance, NE, Chance Salway, Boston, MA, Dylan Clark, Alliance, NE, Tiara Clark, Alliance, NE, Stetson Clark, Alliance, NE and Acasia Turechek of Lincoln, NE., and 5 precious Great Grandchildren. George is also survived by his sisters, Sandy Perry, Cary, NC, Deb (Jack) Streich, Captain Cook, HI, and his brother, Randy (Donna) Turechek, of Cody, WY., as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Preceding George in death are his parents, his brother Robert Turechek, his sister in law Karen (Mingus) Turechek, his brother in law Van Groce, and lest we forget his beloved dog and faithful companion for many years Griz.
Cremation has taken place with a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
