Larry A. Stubby, 72, formerly of Gering, NE passed away on Friday, June 16th, 2023, at his home in North Platte, NE.

Larry, the only child of Mollie (Becker) and Leroy Stubby, was born on February 8th, 1951, in Scottsbluff, NE. In 1970, he married Karen Graves and together they had three children. Larry spent most of his life residing south of Gering, where he took pleasure in sitting outside and admiring the valley. He worked as an irrigation specialist for various pivot companies throughout Western NE. Larry had a passion for watching and collecting all things NASCAR, with a special fondness for Dale Earnhardt. He also enjoyed gardening, canning, and was particularly known for his world-famous salsa. His other hobbies included cooking, creating recipes, and collecting antiques. He eagerly anticipated holidays, cherishing moments with his family, and often emerged victorious in cribbage games against anyone he played. Larry was a funny, kind, and generous man who cherished his time with his children and grandchildren. He had a warm heart for people and easily made friends. 

Larry is survived by his children: Troy Stubby of Westminster, CO, Traci (Dan) Shavlik of North Platte, NE, and Tory (Rachelle) Stubby of Lakewood, CO. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Amalia Stubby, Brooklyn DeClaw, Devon (Kyle) Shrum, Molly (Tyler) Vlasin, Cory Morrison, Sadie Shavlik, Harper Stubby, and Morgan Stubby. Additionally, his great-grandchildren Kyler and Camden, his friend and former spouse Karen Stroh; his brother Timothy Hessler; his sister Carol (David) Rice; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his special second mom, Verna Feeser; and his best friends Bob Keller, Bob Green, and Dennis Cardiff, all hold dear memories of Larry. He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Poo-2.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son Tyler, and his siblings: Bill Becker, Betty Clouse, Richard Clouse, Leland Clouse, Jerry Stubby, Don Stubby, and Jean Hendren.

A celebration of Larry's life will take place in Gering at a later date, with inurnment at the Gering Cemetery. The arrangements have been entrusted to Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte, NE.
