Cheri Dee Lampert (Mills), age 86, from Alliance, NE passed away at the Western Nebraska Veterans Home on July 25, 2026. She was the 4th of 5 children born to Emmett V. and Edna L. Mills (Hulquist) in Clay Center, NE, on Jan 30, 1940. She was raised in Alliance where she graduated High School and then joined the United States Navy, stationed in San Diego, CA. Cheri was trained as a Pediatric Nurse at a Naval Hospital. After her service in the Navy, she went to school and trained as an LPN, worked for Box Butte General Hospital, and had a long career with Good Samaritan Village where she worked until retirement.
She had three children, Don Lampert (Chris), Rapid City, SD, Lynnette Kiss (John), Alliance, NE, and James Lampert (Linda), Cedar, MI. Her kids were her primary focus and was proud that she raised them as a single mother. Cheri was a sister, daughter, mom, aunt, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and recently became a Great-Great Grandmother. Her other passion was her pups.
During the majority of her adult life she was extremely into Christmas and loved buying, making, and handing out presents. She spent a lot of time stenciling pillowcases for her family. Cheri enjoyed the occasional gambling trips to Vegas, Prairie Wind Casino, and some of the local casinos.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, three brothers and her sister. Visitation will be on August 3, 2026 from 9:30 – 10:30 am at Bates Gould Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance, NE at 11:00 am.
