SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - Scottsbluff Police were dispatched to a reported injury accident in the 900 block of 21st Ave involving four vehicles. The investigation found that a 2006 Jeep Commander driven by a Scottsbluff juvenile female was south bound on 21st Ave.
A 1995 Geo Prism driven by Leon Jelinek, 69-years-old, of Broadwater, Nebraska was stopped facing south waiting to make a left turn onto the Western Sugar property when the Jeep impacted the rear of the Prism. The impact caused the Prism to cross the center line into the path of a north bound 2016 GMC Sierra driven by Jessie Martinez, 41-years-old of Gering, Nebraska.
The impact to the Sierra caused the Sierra to be pushed into the outside lane of north bound traffic where it impacted a north bound 2017 Subaru Forester driven by Savian Marquez, 20-years-old of Minatare, Nebraska. Three drivers sustained minor injuries and were treated at Regional West Medical Center. Two drivers were transported via Ambulance.
Citations are pending further investigation. The Jeep and Prism were total losses. The Sierra sustained and estimated $3000 in damages. The Forester sustained an estimated $1500 in damages. All vehicles required towing from the scene. 21st Ave between E Overland and E 7th ST was closed for approximately one hour. Scottsbluff Fire Department and RWMC Ambulance Services assisted in the response.
