Helen Maxine (Pittman) Briggs was born December 6, 1931 in Wyoming near the Table Mountain Community. She attended kindergarten at Table Mountain and attended all other grades at the Huntley School District graduating in June 1949 (blizzard). She worked at the Huntley cafeteria for twelve years. She married Everett Briggs August 23, 1949. They welcomed son Ken in 1955 and daughter Renay in 1965. She attended cosmetology school at Huntley for months before leaving it to take the cafeteria manager’s job at the Lyman school. She was there 18 ½ years until they closed the school in 1991. She then worked as a parts sorter at Kurt Manufacturing in Lyman for 1 ½ years.
After Everett’s and her father’s passing in 1998, her mother came to live with her and she was there nine years. She put the Lyman place for sale and bought a home in Morrill. She and her mom lived there for 5 years. She sold it and moved into an apartment in a four-plex and was there 11 years. She loved working at the Morrill Mall helping and doing a lot of charity work in the surrounding communities. With her failing vision, she decided to put herself into an assisted living facility in Mitchell. With good help from family and friends, she scaled down and spent lots of 2020 getting rid of her stuff. She moved in October 21st and was there until her passing.
She is survived by her son Ken (Susan) Briggs; daughter Renay (Doug) Peterson; grandchildren Zach (Amy) Briggs, Tara (Levi) Grizzle, Heath (Theresa) Briggs, and Casey (Megan) Briggs; great-grandchildren Peyton (Taylor), Brooklyn, Kaylor, Marlee, Klase, Kaysen, Ryleigh, Tony, Everett, and Aurora; great-great-grandchildren Cash and Colt; and her sister Lila Brandt
She is preceded in death by her husband Everett Briggs, parents Mike and Bobbi Pittman, sister Wanda Card, and brother Jim Pittman and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also an active member of the Huntley Presbyterian Church 22 years and of the Henry-Lyman United Methodist Church until passing.
