On August 8, 2025, at approximately 6:44 p.m., Alliance Police Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Laramie Avenue for a report of an assault.
The victim, Alliance Assistant Fire Chief Bradley Schrum, reported that he observed a male and female walking northbound on Cheyenne Avenue near the Alliance Fire Hall. The male was seen discharging a fire extinguisher in the driveway and on the sidewalk outside the Fire Hall. When Assistant Chief Schrum confronted the individuals in the 600 block of Laramie Avenue, the male approached the driver’s side of his pickup and discharged the fire extinguisher directly into his face. The discharge caused temporary breathing difficulty, eye irritation, and left residue inside the vehicle.
Officers located the individuals a short time later in the area. The male, identified as Fred John Red Nest, 46-years-old, of Alliance, refused multiple lawful commands to stop and was taken into custody with the assistance of additional officers. The female was identified as Jennifer Jensen, 47-years-old, of Alliance.
Fred John Red Nest was transported to the Box Butte County Jail and booked on felony assault and additional charges. The case has been forwarded to the Box Butte County Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
