Jodi Conroy (1956 - 2024)

Jodell “Jodi” Conroy, 67, went to be with her heavenly Father on May 19, 2024.

She was born on December 25, 1956 to Macky and Joyce (Schnell) Galyen.  Jodi graduated from Alliance High School in 1975.  She married the love of her life, Doyle Conroy on July 8, 1980.  To this union Doyle gained a daughter, Michelle and a son, Michael.

In her early years she worked several jobs including Gambles and Shop ‘N Save until she found her calling as a Daycare Provider, which she did for over 36 years.  During this time, kids became sort of her family.  She was known as Aunt Jodi to many. 

She enjoyed playing games, hanging out with friends and family, doing BBQ’s, playing Corn Hole, camping and going to the Black Hills.  She also enjoyed taking care of her plants and flowers, going for walks with her husband and “fur” babies, Tia and Casper, going to garage sales, estate sales and sitting on the patio smelling the fresh rain.

Jodi was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and helped with the Altar Committee.  She was also a member of the Alliance Eagles Auxiliary helping with many of their events.  During the time her son, Michael wrestled she was also active in the Alliance Wrestling Club. 

She is survived by her husband, Doyle, her daughter, Michelle (Travis) Hunter of Alliance, her mother, Joyce Schnell of Alliance, her father, Macky (Joan) Galyen of Spearfish, SD, her sisters, Tammie (David) Marsh of Fremont and Shari (Louie) Leisy of Alliance, her brother, Max (Kim) Galyen of Alliance, her sister-in-law, Diana (Mike) Brummer of Hazel Green, WI and brother-in-law, Dan Conroy of Orlando, FL.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her fur babies, Tia, Casper and Bandit. 

Jodi was preceded in death by her son, Michael, sister, Lori Hansen, mother and father-in-law, Louie and Alberta Conroy, grandparents, Dave and Edna Schnell, Melvin and Frances Galyen, Jake and Opal Sterck, brothers-in-law, Doug and David Conroy and numerous aunts and uncles.

The family would prefer memorials be given to Immanuel Lutheran School, P.A.W.S. or Jane’s Closet.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Shaun Daugherty officiating. The family requests casual attire. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday from 1-7 p.m. with the family being present from 4-6 at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home.
