Gering, Neb. — Weather permitting, work will begin next week at the north junction of U.S. Highway 26 (US-26) and U.S. Highway 385 (US-385), according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

Werner Construction Inc., of Hastings, is the prime contractor on this project. Work includes concrete pavement repairs.

Traffic will be maintained with the Automated Flagger Assistance Devices (AFADs) during the daytime and should be back to normal driving conditions at night.&nbsp;Anticipated completion is Dec. 2026.

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.
