Peggy (Carpenter) Vohland (1934 - 2023)

Peggy (Carpenter) Vohland, 88, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away on August 10, 2023 at Regional West Medical Center. Services will be on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ed Hunzeker officiating. Burial will follow service at West Lawn Cemetery. Peggy was born August 24, 1934, in Scottsbluff to Veral and Irene (Combs) Carpenter. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1952 and entered the workforce two weeks later as an operator for the United Telephone Company, where she worked for 5 years. On April 12, 1953, she was united in marriage to Keith Vohland, her high school sweetheart, and they enjoyed 54 years together prior to Keith’s passing, October 5, 2007. Their union was blessed with two daughters: Jackie in 1954 and Becky in 1958.

Peggy worked a stint at First State Bank, and then was employed at Slafter Oil Company for 35 years. In her free time, she enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating with Keith and the family. Other hobbies included baking, going to the movies, and shopping. Her greatest love was for her family with a special fondness for her grandkids, great-grandkids, great-great-grandkids, nieces, and nephews. She adored babies and dogs, especially her dog, Riley.

Survivors include her daughters, Jackie (Rick) Martischewsky and Becky (Ron) Green; grandchildren: Ryan and Nicole Martischewsky, with their children, Ross and Avery; Megan Martischewsky (Freddie Hernandez) with their children Alyssa, Ashleigh, and Cruz Hernandez; Morgan and Ian Venter with their children Marley, Brooklyn, Coltyn, and Avery; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and George Hernandez with their children Aleia and Amari; brothers, Bob (Ronda) Carpenter and Mike (Pam) Carpenter; sister, Jo (Tom) Engstrom; and sister-in-law, Norma Carpenter, who was also Peggy’s best friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; both parents; and her brothers, Jerry, Dick, Boby, and Floyd.
