Mildred E. Colwell, 90, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Box Butte General Hospital.
She was born December 2, 1931 in Gordon, NE to Arthur and Mayme (Johnson) Eddy.
On June 1, 1952 she was united in marriage to Floyd E. Colwell at the Presbyterian Church in Rushville, NE.
She received her Normal School Teaching Certificate and after high school taught for two years in Sheridan County Rural Schools before becoming a homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother. Mildred volunteered with the Box Butte General Hospital Auxiliary and served on the county election board for many years.
She is survived by her children, Mary Lou Colwell (Romas Aleliunas) of Bellevue, WA, Daryl (Patty) Colwell of Alliance, NE, Kent (Lisa) Colwell of Hays, KS, Robert (Lola) Colwell of Fort Collins, CO, Greg (Amy) Colwell of Parker, CO and Jeff (Debbie) Colwell of Thornton, CO, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, sister-in law Joan Colwell of Rushville, NE, brother-in law Charlie Colwell of Rushville, NE, brother-in-law Roy Colwell (Nancy) of Omaha, NE, brother-in-law Jerry Colwell of Omaha, NE and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, son, James, brothers Leonard and Robert Eddy, and sisters Helen Johnson and Anna Mae Nelson.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Steve Swedberg officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 p.m. with family present 5-7 p.m.
