Betty Ann (Martin) Grubbs (1927 - 2020)

Betty Ann (Martin) Grubbs, a blessed child of God was born on March 24, 1927 to Claude and Velma (Schiller) Martin in Sidney, NE and went to her heavenly home October 8, 2020 at the Chimney Rock Villa in Bayard, Nebraska.

She became a child of God through Holy Baptism on April 30, 1927 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sidney, NE.  Continuing her spiritual growth she publicly confessed her faith on her Confirmation Day, May 19, 1950 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Scottsbluff, NE.

Betty married Dean D. Grubbs on June 13, 1954 and was blessed with two children, Travis S. (Susan) Grubbs of Gowanda, NY and Valarie K. (Roy) Olson.  Valarie preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dean, her sisters, Lois Wiggs, Inez Young and Claudia Martin

In addition to her son and daughter-in-law, she is survived by her 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and her brother, Donald Martin of Wellington, NV and her sister, Harriett Strutton of Scottsbluff, NE and numerous nieces and nephews.

A faithful member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alliance she was nourished in her faith through God’s Holy Word and Sacraments.  She lived her faith through worship, Bible study, participation in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society at her church. This was evidenced throughout her life in caring for family, friends and others.  All thanks to God our Father, with Jesus His Son and Blessed Holy Spirit for making Betty His child and providing her with an eternal home in Heaven.

Visitation with her son present will be Monday, October 12 from 1-4 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home.  Graveside services will be Tuesday, October 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery (Hull Community Cemetery) in rural Banner County.  The Reverend Richard C. Mueller and will officiate.  The family would like to acknowledge the ministry and support of Reverend Martin T.
