Delbert (Del) Frank Serbousek (1935 - 2022)

Delbert (Del) Frank Serbousek, a retired entrepreneur and long-time resident of Phoenix, AZ died on August 9th, 2022, at the age of 87 in Phoenix.

Del is survived by his sister Mardell Horn; his children Lamont Serbousek, Marla Serbousek and Melinda Torres; his stepdaughters Wanda Medina and Vickie Welsh; His grandchildren Hope Medina, Becky Medina, Racheal Medina, Phillip McNaughton, Jennifer Sanchez, Brandi Watkins, Whitney Torres, Keith Adams, Lamont Serbouesk JR, and Leilani Serbousek; His nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildern.  He is predeceased by his Sister Darlene Perreten; his father Frank Serbousek; his mother Libby Serbousek; His wives Phyllis Serbousek and Winifred Serbousek.

Del was born in Hay Springs, NE on April 20th, 1935, to Frank and Libby Serbousek.  He was the second of three children.  He grew up on the Serbousek ranch in Beaver Valley and attended Hay Springs High School.  After high school he served in the topographical corps of the US Army from 1952 until 1954.  He also serviced in the US Air Force as both a radio technician and a radio technician instructor from 1954 until 1961.  After leaving military service Del worked in several trades, including as an electronics technician and as an elevator technician in both Utah and Arizona before permanently settling in Phoenix and opening the first electronics calibration lab in the state of Arizona in 1964.  He continued to grow and expand his business while starting several other entrepreneurial endeavors until he retired in 2010.  On June 7th, 1962, he married Winifred Everett in Salt Lake City, UT.  On January 25th, 1968, July 11th, 1969, July 12th, 1971, respectively, he welcomed his son and two daughters.  He was widowed in November 1972.  He then married his high school sweetheart Phyllis Kadlecek in 1976 and welcomed his two stepdaughters.  He was widowed for a second time when Phyllis passed over in 2004.

Del had a strong entrepreneurial spirit as evidenced by his many successful business endeavors.  He was incredibility kind, outgoing and loved as evidenced by the many friends he collected throughout the years.  He was a loving and caring father and grandfather who was very proud of his children and adored his grandchildren.  Del struggled with alcoholism during the early part of his life until finally obtaining full sobriety in 1982 after joining Alcoholics Anonymous.  He was very proud of his 40 years of sobriety and remained active in Alcoholics Anonymous sponsoring and helping hundreds of people through their recovery journeys over three plus decades.  Del also enjoyed doting over his great grandchildren and gambling at the local Phoenix casinos.

A funeral service is scheduled at 2:00 PM on August 27th at the Hay Springs United Methodist Church on Miller Street in Hay Springs, NE.  Flowers, donations and condolences can be offered at 11707 Elk Head Range Rd. Littleton, CO 80127.
