The City of Alliance announces a leadership transition within its Human Resources Department as Human Resources Director Carla Johns departs to pursue a new professional opportunity. Tammy Suit will be promoted to lead the department.
Carla has served the City for more than 17 years, working closely with City leadership, department heads, and employees to strengthen personnel practices, employee development, and workforce planning. Her final day will be November 5, 2026.
“Since returning to the City, I’ve witnessed a palpable improvement in our organization’s professional culture,” said City Manager JD Cox. “Carla and Tammy have both worked tirelessly – together with all of our staff - to help make that happen. It shows, and I want them both to know how much their efforts are appreciated. As Carla takes this next step, we thank her for more than 17 years of service and wish her the very best.”
Carla Johns said: “It’s been a rare gift to be excited about coming to work every day. I’ve had the privilege of serving alongside dedicated employees, supportive leaders, and colleagues who’ve become friends. While it’s never easy to leave a place that means so much, I do so with immense gratitude for the opportunities, challenges, and relationships that have shaped both my career and my life. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together and I’m confident that Tammy’s leadership will continue moving the organization forward.”
Tammy has worked with the City for more than a decade, providing technical support to the Human Resources Office. She brings extensive institutional knowledge, strong relationships across departments, and a commitment to serving City employees.
“Tammy knows our organization, knows our employees, and cares about their success,” said Cox. “I’m excited to have her step into this role and bring her own ideas to the work ahead. She has my confidence and support as we continue strengthening Team Alliance.”
Tammy said “I am excited for this opportunity to continue helping the City in its mission to serve our employees and community. The transformative work that the HR department has produced over the last several years would not have happened without Carla, and I’m looking forward to carrying on many of those initiatives. Her leadership in Human Resources has had a tremendous impact on our organization and has helped pave the way for my own professional development. I’m grateful to our City Manager, JD Cox for trusting me in this next chapter and am very proud to work for the City of Alliance!”
