SIDNEY, Neb. — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested a California man after finding 60 pounds of suspected methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Cheyenne County.
At approximately 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, a trooper performed a traffic stop on a Honda CRV for driving on the shoulder of Interstate 80 near Sidney, at mile marker 66. During the traffic stop, the trooper became suspicious of criminal activity.
During a search of the vehicle, troopers found dozens of packages of suspected methamphetamine in a suitcase. The total weight of the packages was 60 pounds.
The driver, Elmer Posadas Castro, 29-years-old, of El Monte, California was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession with intent to deliver. He was lodged in Cheyenne County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
