Jean Maxwell, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance, Nebraska with her husband of 38 years, Paul J. Maxwell, Jr. at her side.
She was born August 2, 1938 in Vernon, Texas to Nona White and Adolph Adams.
In addition to her husband Paul, she is also survived by her daughter Gaye Schaefer and her son Craig Van Heuverswyn, both of Houston, Texas; her step-sons, P.J. Maxwell, III and David (Flor) Maxwell of Nashville, TN; her step-daughter, Jennifer Kimnach of Omaha, NE; and 7 step-grandchildren.
Jean was a loving soul who cared passionately for her family and friends; including her beloved dogs and the visiting wildlife she enjoyed feeding and protecting. She was a most devoted mother, who opened our worlds to possibilities she couldn’t have imagined for herself, and she was also the cool mom who built us a treehouse, taught us how to dance to rock and roll, and became our best friend. While we will miss her, we will hold her tenderly in our hearts always, as she held us in hers.
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held and announced at a later date.
Memorials in Jean’s name may be given to the Alliance AA Chapter 1 Fund and sent to, P.O. Box 294, Alliance, Nebraska, 69301.
