Discover Northwest Nebraska announced on Thursday that the tourism industry did very well for the 22-23 fiscal year, indicating a strong tourism industry in the region.
The fiscal year ended on June 30, and data collected indicated that Dawes County had their 2nd largest year at $242,000 collected, just below the previous year of 262,000. Sioux County's mark was $4,200, down $300 from the previous year. Director of Northwest Nebraska, Kerri Rempp attributes the small dip in revenues to higher gas prices and a decrease in some out-out-state hunting permits.
“Regardless, visits to the region remain strong, and tourism continues to have a substantial economic impact, supporting more than 260 jobs,” Rempp said.
