Scottsbluff police completes Speed Enforcement Grant, begins Drunk Driving Grant

Scottsbluff Nebraska-The Scottsbluff Police Department has completed the Summer Speed Enforcement Grant.

This grant was from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office and provided extra officers for traffic enforcement on Friday and Saturday and on Broadway and 27th Street. The grant began on June 10 and ended on August 14.

93 Citations were issued for the following violations:

Speeding 16

Racing 7

Expired Registration 23

No Insurance 5

Driving Under suspension 8

No lights 2

No Seatbelt 1

Carrying a Concealed Weapon 1

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 4

Narcotics 3

No drivers license 3

Plates not Visible 1

Possession of a short rifle or shotgun 1

Open Container 1

Trespassing 1

Stop Sign Violation 1

Driving Under the Influence 1

Refusal of Chemical Test 1

No Motorcycle Endorsement 1

Minor In Possession of Alcohol 2

Possession of a Weapon by a Felon 1

Failure to Yield Right of Way 1

Learners Permit Violation 1

Brakes Lights Out 2

Improper Turn 2

Traffic Light Violation 1

No License on Person 1

Reckless Driving 1

Scottsbluff Police will be starting the National Drive Sober or Get Pull Over High-Visibility Enforcement Mobilization. This grant will start on  August 19  and will continue until Monday September 5. 

Scottsbluff Police were given enough funding to pay for at least 216 hours of overtime to look for drunk drivers and other traffic safety violations.
