Current Situation: The Bronco Fire, located 11 miles northwest of Crawford, NE in Sioux County, was reported on Sept 18, at 12:06 p.m. Federal, State and Local resources responded and remain on scene. Air resources are being used on the fire. The fire is about 415 acres.
The fire started on private property and has burned onto the Oglala National Grassland. The fire is burning in rough terrain. Dozer lines are partially in place; however, most areas are only accessible by foot.
The fire is managed under a unified command between Crawford Volunteer Fire Department and the US Forest Service.
Weather: Sunny, High of 76, northwest winds 10-17 mph decreasing to 8 mph late in afternoon. Red flag warning likely.
Safety: The public is asked to avoid travel on roads in the vicinity of the fire for their own safety and the safety of firefighters. No unnecessary travel on Milo Road, Sand Creek Road and Cottonwood Road.
