Paulla J. Sjostrom, 79, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, June 1, 2023.
Born Paulla Jeanenne Vickers, on February 4, 1944 at Hemingford, Nebraska to Cecil O. and Ruth Avis (Shaw) Vickers, she was the youngest and last remaining of her siblings.
Paulla graduated Platte Valley Academy in 1962, attended Union College in Lincoln, and then went on to become certified in X-Ray Technology in Chicago, Illinois in 1967.
On March 17, 1968 she was united in marriage to Donald F. Sjostrom in Hemingford, Nebraska.
She was a very caring mother, always putting her kids first. She was also an avid animal lover, always having multiple pets under her care. She operated a successful business for many years named PaPa Station that allowed her to share that love with as many animals as possible. The Alliance Seventh-day Adventist Church and her faith were always a central part of her life. She enjoyed watching TV, Schwan’s ice cream, and talking with anyone she could get the ear of.
She is survived by her sons, Jack (Joey) Sjostrom of Las Vegas, NV, and Anthony (Amanda Codina) Sjostrom of Lone Tree, CO. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and extended loving family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Dale Vickers, her sister, Imogene “Vicki” Olsen, and her husband, Donald.
Memorial services will be held Friday, June 30, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel in Alliance. Burial will immediately follow at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery. A celebration of life gathering will take place after the burial services at the West Side Event Center, where lunch will be provided for all who want to join.
