On 5/25/25 at approximately 8:19 a.m., Scottsbluff Police were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 405 W Overland in Scottsbluff.
Upon arrival to the residence, Scottsbluff Police found three occupants of the home on scene near the rear entry door of the residence where there were visible flames coming from inside the home.
Two occupants of the home had visible injuries and emergency medical response was requested by on-scene officers.
Scottsbluff Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the fire within the home.
The two injured occupants were transported to Regional West Medical Center for treatment.
70 year old occupant Sandra Hagen succumbed to her injuries at RWMC and the second occupant remained hospitalized for treatment of injuries. Next of kin has been notified.
The cause of the fire was deemed an accidental ignition of a medical oxygen supply.
The residence sustained estimated damages of $30,000. The 400 block of W Overland was closed for approximately one and a half hours during the investigation.
Scottsbluff Fire Department, RWMC Ambulance Services, and the Scotts Bluff Sheriff’s Department assisted in the response.
