Long time Alliance resident, United States Air Force Veteran John Zochol was presented with The American Legion District 4 Work Horse Award at the monthly meeting of The American Legion Post 7 on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 by Past District 4 Commander Larry McCracken.

This award is presented to a Legionnaire in District 4 who puts extra time and effort in for The American Legion promoting its programs and activities on all levels.
This award is a traveling trophy which is kept for one year by the recipient. District 4 consists of 19 American Legion Posts located in western Nebraska totaling just under 900 members.
John currently serves as Post 7's Second Vice Commander and Chair of the Calvary Cemetery Committee, taking charge of the installation and maintenance of the Avenue of Flags at the cemetery on the appropriate occasions. He has 33 continuous years of membership with The American Legion.
He is an active member in the Lions Clubs, the Box Butte County Retired Senior Volunteer Program, is a member of Habitat For Humanities and a member of the Catholic Church.
