GERING, NE– Legacy of the Plains Museum is holding its 30th Annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 17th only. The event starts at 9:00 am and goes until 5:00 pm. The cost is $5 per person, with 12 and under free.
Our featured crop this year is potatoes. Since it is only a one-day show, we are really focusing on equipment this year. We will have several demonstrations for attendees to enjoy, and our equipment will be on full display. We will have the buildings open for everyone to see and enjoy.
“Harvest Festival is the best time to come to the museum, because you will get the whole experience.” David Wolf, Executive Director. “You will talk to people that lived in the houses, worked in a blacksmith shop, worked on the equipment. It is an amazing experience that will have you coming back next year.”
The festival is a family friendly event with free wagon rides; horse, tractor, equipment parade; pedal tractors; bake sale, barrel trains; playground; farm animals; live music; and great activities inside and out. The event will also have potatoes for sale. Dairy King will have food available for purchase, and they will have their ice cream truck available to cool off with.
We would like to thank Simplot for donating fertilizer. Brett Houston and Brad Helgerson have donated the hay for hay bale fort. We also would like to thank Thompson Seed for the seed potatoes, and West Nebraska Seed and Chemical for the millet seed.
We would like to thank all of our sponsors: Big Iron, JG Elliott, Mark Chiropractic, Sandberg Implement, Riverstone Bank, Inland Truck Parts, B & C Steel, Anderson Shaw Construction, Wiedeman Financial, A & A Porta Potties, Twin City Roofing, Bluffs Physical Therapy, Dooley Oil, Roosevelt PPD, and Tri-State G & T.
