Oct. 26, 2026 (Gering, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will begin on the In Bridgeport project in the coming weeks, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

Werner Construction, Inc., of Hastings, will start milling and asphalt operations in Bridgeport in the next few weeks. Traffic will be maintained with the Automated Flagger Assistance Devices (AFAD) during the daytime and should be back to normal driving conditions at night.

The concrete patching through town will continue until completed under the mainline. This work is anticipated to last another three (3) weeks. Other concrete operations, such as curb and gutter replacement and ADA ramp installation will continue as other project work, weather, and contractor availability allow.

Work on the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) bridge has progressed to the second phase and is anticipated to be completed within a month.

Most of the work on this project is expected to be completed in Dec. 2026.

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and put phones down.
