Erica Payne Jordan, 41, passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2026, at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance, Nebraska. She was a wife, mother, daughter, niece, sister, granddaughter, cousin, and friend whose kindness touched many lives.

Born on October 2, 1984, Erica was raised in Alliance, Nebraska. She attended East Point District 25 through eighth grade and later graduated from Alliance High School in 2003. She was known for her creativity, outgoing personality, and ability to strike up a conversation with anyone she met. Throughout her career, she enjoyed working in advertising and communications, holding positions with both the Alliance Times-Herald and the Scottsbluff Star-Herald. She took great pride in helping local businesses and organizations share their stories and connect with their communities.

Family was an important part of Erica's life. She was the mother of four children: Jaedon Payne, Isabella Chipperfield, Topher Chipperfield, and Gabriella Chipperfield. Like many families, their journey together included both joyful memories and difficult seasons. While the years brought challenges and complicated circumstances, family remained an important part of Erica's story, and her passing leaves behind a profound loss for those who knew and loved her.

Family traditions and relationships were deeply important to Erica. Growing up, she loved spending time with her grandparents, where she learned to cook and gained an appreciation for the simple joys of gathering around with loved ones. As the oldest cousin, Erica embraced her role with pride, offering guidance, laughter, and friendship to the younger members of her family. She treasured those relationships and remained close to her extended family throughout her life.

Erica was first married to Christopher Chipperfield, with whom she shared many years and raised their children, including Chris’ girls Jennifer and Hallie. In April 2026, she married the love of her life, Anson Jordan. Their marriage marked a joyful chapter in her life and reflected the deep love and companionship they found together.

She is survived by her husband, Anson Jordan; her children, her parents, Kimberly (Bedient) and Clifford Payne; her brother, Zach Payne and his family; Grandad Theo Bedient, grandaughter, Elliana; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles; and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by her friendship.

She was preceded in death by her beloved uncle, James Bedient; her grandmother, Betty Bedient; her grandparents, Catherine and Keith Payne, and her Uncle Jerry Nunes.

Erica will be remembered for her caring heart, creative spirit, infectious smile, and ability to make people feel welcome. Whether she was sharing a meal, helping a friend, telling a story, or reconnecting with family, she had a gift for bringing people together. Her kindness, sense of humor, and generous nature will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Though her time here was far too short, Erica's legacy lives on through her family, her friends, and the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew her.

Memorial services will be Monday, June 8, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Alliance.  Pastor Priscilla Kaimathiri will officiate.  Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery.
