On Sept. 23 at approximately 5 p.m. the Dawes County Attorney/Coroner and the Nebraska State Patrol were called to the Dawes County Jail to investigate the unattended inmate death of 23-year-old Aquinnah Schuyler High Hawk.
High Hawk was found deceased in her jail cell.
"Because Miss High Hawk died while in custody, a Grand Jury will be called to investigate the circumstance behind her death, "Dawes County Attorney/Coroner Vance Haug said. "An autopsy and toxicological screening was ordered and will be completed in Scottsbluff on Tuesday morning."
Haug said more information will be released "when appropriate."
