State Senator Lou Ann Linehan issued a statement on Wednesday about education and legislation, and the importance of scholarships for families in need in Nebraska.

Linehan issued a statement that indicates that  Support our Schools reportedly submitted approximately 117,000 signatures to the Secretary of State on Wednesday, which should put legislation LB753 on the November 2024 ballot. She says that there were not enough signatures to suspend the program, allowing families in need to receive  scholarships for 2024-2025.

Linehan continues to say that she stands with Governor Jim Pillen and a bipartisan super-majority of the Legislature to support parents and children desperately in need of education choice.

"All Nebraska kids deserve hope and opportunity from a quality education of their parents choosing," Linehan said. "The teachers union and their allies want to double down on their efforts to take opportunity away from vulnerable kids, including kids from low income families and kids trying to escape bullying, that’s a fight I’m willing to take on."
