GERING, Neb. — Weather permitting, work will begin June 8 on U.S. Highway 26 (US-26), from reference post 32.91 to 41.91, and on Link 62A (L-62A), from reference post 0.00 to reference post 9.19, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

The work on this project is the next phase of the 4-lane Heartland Expressway.

Paul Reed Construction &amp; Supply, Inc., of Gering, is the contractor for this project. Work includes grading, concrete pavement, culverts, bridge construction, lighting, guardrail and seeding. The speed limit will be reduced in work areas. A 12-foot width restriction will be in effect. Anticipated completion for is Oct. 2027.

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and put phones down.
