Eva Lazo Miranda, 83, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 22, 2023. Visitation will be Thursday, September 28 from 8:00AM – 11:00 AM with a Christian Wake Service commencing at approximately 9:30AM at Bridgman Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held after at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Father Joseph Thambi officiating. Interment will follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Minatare, Nebraska.
Eva was born in Marfa, Texas on October 13, 1939 to Francisco Lazo and Geneva Moreno. She met her future husband, Ramon Ramirez Miranda, while working on a farm near Hillrose, Colorado. The couple married on October 25, 1954, in Clayton, New Mexico. They had five children: Gloria, Arthur, Elias, Alisa, and Joseph.
Eva spent much of her life working as a housekeeper while she raised her and Ramon’s five children. She also worked at Gerry’s Factory in Scottsbluff until they closed. She loved to sew and often made clothes for her family, as well as many quilts that will be forever cherished by her family. She enjoyed traveling around the country. Music was a big part of her life and she enjoyed going to concerts with her son, Arthur. It was common to hear her listening to Neil Diamond, Bob Seger, Peter Frampton, Elvis Presley, the Everly Brothers, and others.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ramon Ramirez Miranda; two of her children: Arthur (Becky) Miranda and Elias (Gloria) Miranda; her daughter-in-law Becky Miranda, as well as several brothers and sisters. Eva is survived by three of her children: Gloria (John) Ebert, Alisa (Doug) Nelson, and Joseph Miranda; her daughter-in-law Gloria Miranda; her sister, Margaret Ramirez; her brother Francisco Lazo; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
