Chadron City Hall will close at 4 p.m., an hour earlier than its previous closing time of 5 p.m. The change took effect today, June 2.
Chadron City Manager Tom Menke said the change was made in response to feedback from city employees.
In a survey conducted earlier this year, employees said they would like to have an hour each day without phone calls or visitors so they could focus on their work. Menke said the busiest time at city hall in terms of citizens coming in is in the morning.
Menke said the plan is to review the 4 p.m. closure in about 6 months to see if it should be changed or made permanent.
