SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - The Western Community College Area Board of Governors has announced that Monica Shambaugh will fill the District 5 vacancy in an interim capacity.
Shambaugh will hold the post through the remainder of former Board member Dr. William M. Packard's term, through December 2026.
Shambaugh is the current executive director of the CAPstone Child Advocacy Center in Gering. Prior to that, she served as a safety and security assessor for the Nebraska Department of Education and was a state trooper for the Nebraska State Patrol for 29 years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. In community roles, she is currently a board member of the Scottsbluff/Gering Chamber of Commerce and served various roles in the United Way, Scottsbluff Rotary, Special Olympics and more.
District 5 contains the following precincts - Scotts Bluff County: East Winter Creek, West Winter Creek, Funston and Scottsbluff I through VIII Precincts.
