The INDEPENDENT PRESS AWARD, one of the most prestigious book award programs globally for independent authors, publishers, and illustrators, recognized Be the Weight Behind the Spear by Dr. Josh McConkey in the Motivational category as a 2024 distinguished favorite.
McConkey is a 2022 inductee into the Alliance, Nebraska Public Schools Hall of Fame and was the 2023 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient at his alma mater, Chadron State College.
The competition is judged by experts from different aspects of the book industry, including publishers, writers, editors, book cover designers and professional copywriters. Selected IPA Award Winners and Distinguished Favorites are based on overall excellence.
