ALLIANCE, Neb. - The stars won't be the only things shining at night in Alliance as spring turns to summer in the panhandle.

DeeDee Behm, from Highland Park Care Center, along with Alliance Tourism, the Box Butte Development Corporation and the Alliance Chamber, have made a deal with Fantasy Drone Shows to bring some nighttime excitement to Alliance on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

The company set to bring the show to life in Alliance is the same one that dazzles the Husker crowd at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln during nighttime football games. The recent years have included drone shows overlooking the stadium in Lincoln, and Behm explained what the show will bring to the table when the drones head up into the sky to entertain the community in Alliance.

"Fantasy puts them into choreography in the sky, and they will make really incredible depictions of Box Butte County," said Behm.

Along with the light show produced by the drones, Behm said the Alliance community can expect even more fun. The inclusion of food trucks and live music were all discussed to make this a true "kick off the summer" event.

The drone show will be set up behind Highland Park, and Behm said visibility will be available at the practice field at Alliance High School, as well as the stadium. This will allow for parking to be of no concern, according to Behm.

"Everybody can have a place to park and sit, and just have a great evening," said Behm.

92.5 FM KCOW is set to provide the music that will synchronize with the drones, completing the show for everyone to see. The theme of the drone show is to showcase Box Butte County.

"It is all about Box Butte County. Alliance, Hemingford - both of those are going to be acknowledged. There's going to be stuff in there that people will realize is what has made Box Butte County what it is," said Behm.

When asked about what parts of the community that people can expect from the show, Behm gave a teaser of some of the designs the drones will form up in the sky.

"We'll pay homage to Carhenge and pay homage to the fountain," said Behm about the drone show.

The idea for this drone show came from trying to continue to provide top-tier entertainment for the community. With what Fantasy Drone Shows has produced in the past, this event in Alliance should be just what the community needs to bring summer energy to town.
