Carolyn Geneal Wozniak (1936 - 2022)

Carolyn Geneal Wozniak passed away peacefully on October 23, 2022 in her home with her daughter Carolyn and son Dana by her side.

Jill was born on June 20, 1936 to Leve and Freda Jones in Alliance, Nebraska. When she was small, they moved to Rushville, Nebraska. Growing up, she worked in her parents clothing store. In high school , she played snare drum in the marching band, and also competed individually earning superior ratings. Jill sang in the chorus and was in a trio and double sextet that competed at Girls State in Lincoln, NE. In high school, she also was class secretary, Pep club vice president, Band Treasurer and Ass’t Editor of the yearbook. After graduating, Jill was employed seven years at Stockman’s National Bank.

Jill married high school sweetheart Ivan Wozniak in 1957. To this union, three children were born: Carolyn Hollis (Steve-deceased), Denise Anderson (deceased) (Brian) and Dana (Denise) Wozniak.

In 1987, Ivan and Jill moved to Roswell, NM, where she worked for nine years as Branch Office assistant in Ivan’s Edward Jones office for nine years.

After Ivan’s death in 1996, Jill returned to Gering to be closer to family. Jill was fortunate to travel around Europe, Hawaii, Niagara Falls and back east to see the fall colors.

Jill’s faith and family were most important in her life. She was active in her church and loved her church family.

Jill loved golfing, playing bridge, gardening, music and playing piano. She treasured her many friends.

Survivors include her daughter Carolyn Hollis, son Dana (Denise) Wozniak, seven grandchildren, siblings Jim Jones, Jack Jones and Judy Thomas and nieces and nephews.

Jill was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ivan, daughter Denise Anderson, son-in-law Steve Hollis, sister-in-law Evelyn Jones and niece Rochelle Batt.

A memorial graveside service will be Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering with Father Robert Manasek officiating. Memorials may be given to donor’s choice or St Francis Episcopal Church. Fond memories may be left at www.geringchapel.com. Gering Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
