OMAHA, Neb.-
The Nebraska Broadcasters Association Foundation (NBAF) is awarding $1,000.00 scholarships to four Nebraska high school seniors with plans to earn a broadcasting-related degree and aspirations to work in broadcasting. Applications were reviewed by a panel of NBA board members, resulting in the following students earning a scholarship:
Dulce Espinosa-Hernandez, Lexington High School. Dulce will attend the University of Nebraska – Lincoln to pursue a degree in Broadcast Journalism;
Madelyn Meyerle, Diller-Odell High School. Madelyn will attend the University of Nebraska – Lincoln to pursue a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications;
Payton Pohlad, Fort Calhoun Junior-Senior High School. Payton will attend the University of Nebraska – Lincoln to pursue a degree in Television Broadcasting;
Mahri Vega, Seward High School. Mahri will attend the University of Nebraska – Lincoln to pursue a degree in Broadcasting: Media Production.
NBA Board Chairperson Ami Graham, general manager of NRG Media – Lincoln, said: “It is an honor to recognize Nebraska High School Seniors who have shown interest in the Broadcast industry as they prepare to begin college. On behalf of the NBA Board of Directors, I am excited to announce our four scholarship recipients for 2022. Supporting our high school students planning to pursue a career in Broadcasting will continue to be an important part of our mission. These are our future leaders in radio and television!”
The NBAF also offers scholarships to assist students enrolled in radio and/or television broadcasting or broadcast journalism educational programs at colleges, universities or technical colleges in Nebraska. Over $300,000 in scholarships has been awarded by the NBA and NBAF since the NBA first began a scholarship program in 1977.
